Gretchen was raised in the midwest where she played soccer on a nationally ranked club team until she graduated high school. She attended Indiana State University on a soccer scholarship as a captain and center defender. Graduating with a teaching degree in Special Education, Gretchen spent fifteen years educating and coaching students, raising her young children, and traveling around the world. When she moved back to the United States, she found and fell in love with CrossFit and began competing and coaching in 2014.
As a mother, Gretchen was first exposed to the value of nutrition through her children. After two of her children were diagnosed with Celiac Disease in 2012, she learned the importance of nutrition and how food can impact overall health. In August of 2016, Gretchen’s world was changed when she was diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder called Rheumatoid Arthritis. Her focus was changed from competing to mobility, functional movements, and nutrition. She has worked tirelessly to understand the role nutrition plays in autoimmune disorders, inflammation, allergies, and overall well-being.
Gretchen decided to help others who are looking for nutrition guidance and completed the Precision Nutrition Level 1 course in order to become a nutrition coach. She is eager to extend her knowledge and passion to others around her while supporting individual goals both inside and outside of the gym. She hopes to utilizes her education and ability to coach in order to help others realize how important nutrition and exercise are to living their “best life”!
